Analysis of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on national health expenditures and financial structure of hospitals

The Covid-19 Pandemic has had significant adverse effects on public health and the economy worldwide. On the one hand, the high risk of transmission of the epidemic, on the other hand, the risk of death of the people infected with the disease, increased the negative effects of the disease on public health. The measures taken to reduce the negative effects of the Covid-19 epidemic on public health also led to significant contractions on the economy. The uncertainty created by the epidemic led to the postponement of investment and consumption expenditures other than basic consumption expenditures. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the effects of the Covid -19 Pandemic on national health expenditures and the financial structure of hospitals. The original contribution of the study compared to the studies in the literature is that, according to our literature review, it is the first study in this field using relevant hospital data. It is expected that the study will contribute to the decision makers in making better health decisions and developing effective policies.
