Aim: The aim of this study is to determine and compare the knowledge levels of dentistry students and dentists in Turkey about forensic dentistry. Materials and Methods: A face-to-face and "Google Forms" questionnaire was applied to a total of 406 dentists and dentistry students (between 19-73 years old) on a voluntary basis who were randomly selected and living in Turkey. Similar studies were taken as reference in order to create questions to measure the education level of forensic dentistry. The comprehensibility and applicability of the questionnaire was tested by preparing a pilot study. IBM SPSS Statistics 22 (IBM SPSS, Turkey) program was used for statistical analysis of the data. Significance was evaluated at the p<0.05 level. Results: 52.7% of the participants stated that they took forensic dentistry course at the faculty, 7.4% stated that they had knowledge after graduation. In this study, it was seen that 18.2% of the dentists did not keep a dental records. The rate of archiving patient personal information of female dentists (77.4%) was found to be statistically significantly higher than male dentists (68.1%) (p:0.038; p<0.05), and female dentists were determined to be more conscious compared to male dentists (84.8%) in diagnosis of child sexual abuse (76.7%) (p:0.040; p<0.05). When the participants encountered child abuse, they preferred to apply to the police station most frequently (57.6%) and to Alo 112 (17%) the least. Conclusion: It was observed that the dentists and dentistry students participating in the survey were insufficient in forensic dentistry knowledge level and archiving, and that none of them needed to apply in case of child abuse. Due to the lack of education in the field of forensic dentistry except undergraduate education, it was thought that dentists did not have sufficient knowledge and experience in this field.
